VMI College Orientation Workshop  Don’t Miss Out! There will be a VMI College Orientation Workshop (COW)exclusively for minority male high school students this summer from June 27 through July 24. It consists of a 4-week residential academic and self-development program with full scholarships provided. Fill out an online application at today. Only sophomores and juniors may apply.
Deadline for applications is April 18.
On Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 Dabney S.Lancaster Community College will host its annual Administration of Justice Career Day with hands-on activities. It will be a great opportunity for current juniors and seniors to learn about areas of law enforcement administration, police science, the prevention and control of juvenile delinquency, criminal investigation and drug awareness. Anyone interested in attending should sign up in the counseling office and pick up a permission slip.  Permission slips due back in the counseling office no later than this Friday, April 16th. School Information:
ITT Technical Institute will host a High School Senior Open House Thursday, May 6th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be instructors on hand to help answer your questions, school tours, financial aid info available and refreshments. Come get a flyer in the Counseling Office.
Tech Prep Honor Graduate Award 
The Tech Prep Educational Consortium of Western Virginia will honor Tech Prep students again this year with the Tech Prep Honor Graduate Award.
You must be…
  1. a 2010 Graduating Senior
  2. be enrolled or previously enrolled in a CTE dual-enrollment class
  3. have demonstrated good attendance in a CTE program that complies with school divisions policy
  4. have a “B” Average in A CTE Completer Program

Career Coach
Mrs. Joyce Broughman is the PMHS Career Coach. She is employed by Dabney S. Lancaster Community College. She works with students of all grade levels, helping them develop career goals for the future. Students complete career assessments using theVirginia Education Wizard.  Once goals are established and assessments completed, students formulate a career plan for life after graduation. Mrs. Broughman is at PMHS on Mondays.  Students may sign up in the main office or in the guidance office if they wish to speak with her.  Parents may make an appointment to meet with her by calling the PMHS or by calling her directly at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Office at 261-1211 Option #3.
Tutoring Available at SVU
SVU will be providing tutoring for math and Spanish this semester utilizing the following schedule:
Math & Spanish: 7:00 pm -9:00 pm, Tues., Wed. & Thurs.
Math only: 3:00 pm -5:00pm, Mon.-Thurs.
